Example 1 - Entry Rebuild of 1900 Construction
Service as a nursing home seemingly was the last stop before teardown of this residence built over a century ago by a sea captain for his wife. Better days, however, lay ahead.
Under new owners, beginning in 2004, Gary D. Torgerson Co. has been engaged in restoring this irreplaceable Victorian to a state of elegance exceeding its original construction. Accents such as the elliptical sunburst pediment over the entry door, the gable end’s radiating panel, the brackets and spandrels framing the porch ceilings, and of course the ipe (“iron wood”) floor and steps were added only after the building’s first one hundred five years.
