Example 2 - Basement Remodel, East Perspective.

This most inviting guest facility occupies the formerly open basement of a classic box home constructed in 1907(See Exterior Painting, Older Homes, Classic Box Example 3). As is the case in nearly all Torgerson Company construction, the design was the creation of Client-Company collaboration. What a treat for out of town guests to be so ensconced.

(1) Open basement prior to work, west perspective.

The preexisting floor was removed and six inches of soil excavated to provide increased ceiling height.
(3) Completion, west perspective
All lighting is halogen: ceiling cans, pendant lights and low voltage under the counter units. Wiring for the surround sound system, combining both plasma television and music system, was integrated into the construction.

(4) Kitchen
Cabinets are natural finished Cherry. The floor is a hardwood laminate installed over padding.

Cabinet details
The sink and under-counter refrigerator door are stainless steel. Countertops are Corian. The dishwasher door (to the right of the sink) matches the cabinets.

(7) Bedroom
The window is "tilt-turn," either functioning as inward swinging hopper(hinged at the bottom) for ventilation, or inward swinging casement (hinged on it's right side) for emergency egress.

(10) Entry to bath and laundry

The cabinets are stock, the countertop Formica. Flooring is twelve inch square vinyl tile.
(12) Bath details
The countertop is Corian. The two medicine cabinets are Company designs. The bathing area tiles are three by six inch rectangular, with one inch square accents. Floor tile are hexagonal.
