Example 1 - 2005 Restoration of 1909 Construction
This Georgian style mansion’s exterior envelope exemplifies the finest materials and workmanship of a bygone era: thick properly laid up stucco, and windows and doorways constructed of heavily proportioned old growth fir. For all its conspicuous elegance however, this architectural style lacks the shelter of overhangs. Thus maintenance is critical. Without the redundant protection of eaves, shelter of the structure rests solely on coatings.
Certainly the elegance of this architectural style may be viewed as fair exchange for the required maintenance. And given the proper maintenance such a building can serve for centuries.
