Example 3 - 2006 Restoration of 1937 Construction

This home had been resided with aluminum siding. Other “upgrades” performed at various times included two anodized aluminum garden windows, bare aluminum storm windows and storm doors, and aluminum gutters.  All of this work evidenced competence taking a back seat to expedience.  Consequently, in addition to usual endeavors, we also needed to address leaking gutters and windows lacking proper seals and flashings, and consequent massive decay.

Our restoration resulted in a home now well sealed against further moisture intrusion.  The refinished aluminum closely resembles wide, beveled cedar siding. The recased windows' appearance is consistent with period construction. All’s well that ends well.

The new casing laps adjacent siding.  Junctures are bridged in elastic sealant.  The top is counter flashed.
