Example 3 - 1989 Restoration of 1901 Construction

This magnificent home was built in a time of plentiful old growth lumber, low labor costs, and builders’ reputations resting on each house they constructed.  Under such circumstances finely executed appointments enhancing durability and appearance prevailed.  Note each story’s shelter, either by eaves or wall set back.  Even the small attic window is under a peak of flared shingles.  The radius wall returns to the second story windows deserve special mention.  Steam softening of the shingles was required to execute such curves.

Colors are sequentially sprayed and masked off.  Color breaks are precise, established by masking tape lines.
(3) 2006 Aside from inevitable fading little has changed with the passage of seventeen years.  The home remains well protected by the underlying elastomeric membrane.
